Congratulations to the Lexington United Soccer Club’s high school boys U16 LPDA team on winning the Southeast division of the indoor MA Futsal League! The 9th and 10th grade boys went into the post-season seeded #1 and handily won their semi-final match on 3/31 against #4 seed Wellesley with a score 9-4. Sunday’s April 1 final game in Brookline against #2 seed Wolfpack Purple was a much-anticipated rematch from the regular season when the teams tied 5-5 in a tightly contested match. The final fulfilled its promise with both teams competing fiercely. The score was tied 3-3 at halftime, and then 5-5 at the end of regulation time. The excitement mounted during the 5 minute Golden Goal overtime with both teams taking rocket shots on goal but neither team able to find the net. LPDA BU16 won in penalty kicks 3-2 to finally clinch the Championship and take home the trophy!
