Lexington United Soccer Club is offering a free introductory referee course for up to 40 prospective young referees in conjunction with the MYSA (Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association) Genesis Program for 12 & 13 year olds on Monday, June 5th, 2023.
This is a two hour course focused on the laws of the game and referee mechanics. Individuals who complete the course will be eligible to referee Lexington in-town games (3rd and 4th graders). This course is only for children being younger than 14 years old and at least 12 years old when the season starts (born between (6/6/09 – 9/9/11).
This is a great opportunity to start as a soccer referee. The games are easy to referee and are perfect for building confidence and learning the mechanics of refereeing. Referees that are actively participating in the MYSA Genesis program and are deciding to take the MSRC (Massachusetts State Referee Committee) certification course once they turn 14 years old, can request some reimbursement from LUSC for their certification course fee. (at the Assignors discretion).
The course will be held 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, June 5th, 2023 in Room 237 at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Road in Lexington.
To register, please complete this form. The training is limited to 40 young referees.
Individuals born before 6/6/2009 are eligible to register with MSRC for a “New Grassroots Referee – Entry Level” certification course to become a certified referee for BAYS travel games. The referee fiscal year starts 7/1, so anyone getting certified after 7/1/23 would be certified for 2023 AND 2024.
Thank you,
LUSC
