Hi Coaches,
It’s amazing that another season is around the corner, but that’s the reality. First and foremost, thank you for volunteering to coach a team this Fall. The service that you, and the other coaches, provide LUSC with is so important for the success of our program. I wanted to make you aware of the upcoming LUSC Coaches Meeting, announce our Model Coaching Clinics Schedule, and an “Introduction to Coaching” Course I will be teaching.
I’d strongly encourage all coaches to try to attend the Coaches Meeting if at all possible.
Tuesday 8/28 Coach’s Meeting Details:
Where: Hancock Church
6:00 to 7:00pm- In-town K through 2nd grade.
7:00 to 7:30pm- Social
7:30 to 8:45pm- All Travel & U9-10 In-town Coaches Meeting
*At the event we will be serving drinks (free soda/water) and appetizers.
The meeting will cover:
- Zero Tolerance
- updated coaching resources
- include a power point on how to be a great volunteer coach
- provide updates on the game formats (7v7 and 9v9)
- fall field availability
- equipment needs
- referee issues
- programs the club is offering
- general coaching philosophies of the club.
Saturday 9/1 Model Coaching Clinic Schedule held at Lincoln Field #2:
These clinics are free for all LUSC Coaches and don’t require any pre-registration. The clinics will be geared toward coaching 3rd grade and above. The goal of these sessions is to demonstrate a variety of coaching techniques and approaches, so that coaches can observe the structure and sequence of activities of a full practice session from start to finish.
9:00am to 10:00am: Passing & Receiving (simple to complex)
10:00am to 10:45am: Favorite Finishing Exercises
10:45am to 11:30am: 7v7/9v9 Coaching Considerations & Systems of Play
11:30am to 12:00pm: Q&A
Saturday 9/8 “An Introduction to Coaching Course”:
Volunteer coaching is the lifeblood of Lexington United Soccer Club. If you are a new coach, or if you ever thought about becoming a coach, then come join me at Diamond Middle School from 1:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday 9/8 for a course I specifically designed to enhance a coaches comfort level and enjoyment while coaching soccer in Lexington.
The course will be split between classroom and gymnasium and cover:
- Why Kids Play
- How Kids Learn
- Age Appropriate Training
- Economical Training
- How to Build a Practice Plan
- Club Philosophy “A Player Centered Approach”
- Communication with Players
- Communication with Parents
There is no cost for attending the course, but pre-registration is requested.
